About Gareth Collins - Online Hypnotherapist
I’m Gareth Collins, the founder of Retrained Minds Hypnotherapy.
My work focuses on helping people make sense of what’s been holding them back and move forward with greater clarity and confidence. Drawing on training in hypnotherapy, coaching and NLP, I take a practical, down-to-earth approach that blends insight with real-world change.
I work with clients online throughout the UK, supporting them to shift patterns, strengthen self-belief and create progress that feels steady, realistic and lasting.
When Life Feels Fine on the Outside, but Not Inside
Sometimes there isn’t a clear event or turning point. You keep functioning, doing what needs to be done, and from the outside nothing seems wrong. Yet there’s a quiet sense that something isn’t quite aligned - a feeling that things take more effort than they should.
Online hypnotherapy gives you the chance to step back from that background strain and look at what’s influencing how you think, react, and move through your day. Rather than forcing change, we focus on understanding what’s underneath it, which often makes things begin to shift naturally.
The difference tends to show up in everyday moments: situations feel less draining, decisions feel steadier, and you start to notice more room to respond in a way that actually feels right for you.
When Functioning Well Still Doesn't Feel Like Living Well
Sometimes nothing is obviously wrong - you’re meeting expectations, keeping up with responsibilities, and doing what’s needed day to day. Yet underneath, there’s a sense that everything takes more out of you than it should.
That’s often where a more reflective approach can help. Online hypnotherapy focuses less on pushing yourself harder and more on recognising the patterns that quietly shape how you think, react, and carry pressure. When those patterns begin to shift, things often start to feel lighter without effort needing to increase.
Many people notice the change in simple ways: moments feel less draining, choices feel steadier, and life starts to feel something you’re participating in again - not just maintaining.

It’s a bit like walking on a treadmill that’s set just slightly too fast. You keep moving, you don’t fall, and from the outside it looks fine - but it takes constant effort just to stay in place.
Adjust the speed even a little, and suddenly you can move with the rhythm instead of fighting it.

How the Process Usually Unfolds
Most sessions begin with something simple: a chance to pause and put into words what hasn’t quite been settling right. There’s no performance, no pressure to explain things perfectly - just a conversation that helps us understand where you are and what feels most important to shift.
From there, we start noticing patterns together - not to analyse you, but to make sense of how certain reactions, habits, or pressures have taken shape over time. You remain in control of the pace, and the work develops naturally from what feels most relevant to you.
The aim isn’t just that the session feels helpful while you’re in it, but that something changes in how you move through life afterwards - situations feel less automatic, decisions feel steadier, and you experience more room to respond in ways that actually suit you.
When Life Keeps Nudging You Back to the Same Place
Sometimes the difficulty isn’t one big event - it’s that things never quite move forward. You find yourself facing familiar frustrations, reacting in ways you meant to change, and wondering why effort alone hasn’t shifted things.
Online hypnotherapy creates space to step outside that cycle. Rather than focusing on willpower, we look at how certain thoughts, expectations, or emotional habits have been shaping your responses over time. Once those become clearer, it’s possible to approach situations differently without forcing it.
Many people notice the change not as a sudden breakthrough, but as a quiet shift: conversations feel easier, decisions feel less tangled, and life begins to feel like something you’re directing rather than enduring.

I work with clients online across North Yorkshire, including York, Scarborough and surrounding areas.
You Don't Need to Be Sure - Just Curious Enough to Begin
Most people don’t reach out because they’ve figured everything out. They do it because something isn’t sitting right anymore - and they don’t want to keep carrying it alone.
The first conversation isn’t about making decisions or committing to anything. It’s simply a chance to talk things through with someone who understands how change actually happens, and to see whether this approach feels like the right fit for you.
Often, what people gain from that call isn’t pressure - it’s relief. A clearer sense of what’s been going on, what could shift, and what your next step might realistically look like.
